Add a touch of romance…

Acai duoRuffles hit the spotlight in spring 2008 and they are back bigger than ever for spring 2009.  Feminine and romantic, this look has made its way into dresses, shirt fronts and even gusseted into coats. Even just touches of ruffle, skirting across a hem or sleeve edge, or a tiny delicate waterfall on a shirt front can add softening to silhouettes. An off-center thin line of small ruffling down a shirt or skirt can add length to your look or adding a long ruffled scarf will do for a nod to this hot fashion look.

We were especially intrigued with drapey jerseys teamed with georgettes to form mixed layers of ruffles… and we have a perfect pair up!  The Acai silk georgette and Jussara cotton spandex knit duo.

Gr-rr-rrr…

It’s an Urban Jungle — Trending hot this season are animal prints.  Whether the print is the focus of your garment or an eye-catching trim, you’ll want to find a way to integrate this into your wardrobe this fall.  We’re seeing woven and knit dresses and tops, jackets, cardigans with printed panels, peek-a-boo pleated or gored skirts and softly structured tops with contrast facings.  And then, of course, the ultimate in lingerie and loungewear.

Leopardess animal print fabricLeopardess (shown) – Join the fun with these delectable silk jersey knits in blue and plum.  The pattern from nature is there, but the colors are pure fashion!  Silk jersey is perfect for tops and dresses, but don’t miss the opportunity for great lingerie and loungewear!

Lingerie

Silks DuoOoh-la-la!  Silk lingerie is so pretty and really quite simple to create.  Whether you go for a camisole, a nightie or boy shorts, silk charmeuse is the fabric of choice!  Printed silks are fun and exciting; solids are elegant.  We have both for you!

Shown here: Midori and Enchante in concord grape.

Flirty Skirts

Tilly fabricSummer 2007 is definitely flirty and feminine with skirts replacing shorts in many venues!  Whether you choose prints or solids, be sure you use a fabric with drape — silk prints, chiffon or georgette with underskirts, cotton lawn.  For a more structured silhouette, try a multi-gore skirt in cotton satin print or solid linen.  Make it short and flirty or long and elegant.

Shown: Tilly.  See more in The Back Room.

Fuchsia

It’s hot and it’s striking!  Fuchsia is on a comeback for those of you who miss it, and it’s an all new color for those who haven’t tried it.

Fuchsia fabricsTip toe in with just a bit in a print or go head to toe in a suit.  You’ll love this purplish pink color for statement dressing.   Right now we have an absolutely stunning viscose/linen texture, Flamenco, in stock.  Our silk chiffon burnout is dramatic in black and fuchsia–Masquerade.  If you can’t get yourself to fuchsia, consider a hot pink or a deep orchid to simulate the trend.  The pinstripe in Suit Yourself is actually orchid, but it works with fuchsia coordinates as well.

Just a touch of purplish pink will update a basic outfit!
